Soya & Rice
This Soya & Rice with some peas is a delicious alternative to non-vegetarian rice dishes! Give it a try, you never would have thought soya could taste this good.
150 grams soya chunks
2 cups water
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp cumin seeds
2 cinnamon sticks
1-2 bay leaves
1-2 green chillies, chopped
1 tsp garlic, minced
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 cup frozen peas
1 large potato, cut into 1 inch cubes
Salt to taste
1 1/2 cups Daawat Basmati Rice, cooked
Soak the soya chunks in water for 10 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and cloves and fry for 1-2 minutes.
Add green chilies, garlic, onions and let cook for another 1-2 minutes.
Add turmeric powder, peas and potatoes, and season with salt.
Squeeze the water out from the soya chunks and stir. Let cook on a low flame for 12-15 minutes until the potatoes have cooked.
Mix in the rice and stir until the rice is heated through.
